4 Reasons To Call Dr. Tidwell:

1. Not taking bottles. If your child is not taking their bottles then you can try giving Pedialyte instead. Do this for 24 hours. If they still wont drink and it’s been all day then please call us.

2. If your child is not making at least 4 wet diapers in 24 hours then call us

3. If your child is working hard to breathe. Please nasal suction and then reevaluate

   1. Call if you see ribs sinking in deep 

   2. Call if breathing more than 40 times a minute (more than 60 times a minute if <1 years old)

4. Your parent gut says something is wrong then please don’t hesitate to call

Remedies:

Nasal suctioning with nasal saline

Neosynephrine drops (do every 6 hours, do NOT exceed 72 hours of use)

Alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours (only give Motrin if >6months old)

Cool mist humidifier

Lots of fluids

Lots of cuddles

There is no safe over the counter cough medicine for children

This may last for 7-10 days of mucus or congestion.  Cough can last 3 weeks or more.

Infant and Children's Tylenol are the SAME thing and they are innerchangeable.
